Sierra de Mijas, with its highest peak of 1.150 meters offers to its visitors magnificent panoramic views and is a perfect place for various outdoor activities. There are many trekking routes that will take you through these privileged and exceptional surroundings.
Sierra de Mijas' morphology is characterized by numerous streams with limited water accompained by interesting caves which creation is due to limy rocks. The mountainous landscape of the area makes Mijas a marvellous place to carry out all types of outdoors activities in the virgin natural environment. At the bottom of the sierra, in the labyrinth of hills a traveller can spot a contrast between a traditional image of this area and the inevitable transformation of these lands due to constantly growing tourist industry. The middle of the western part of sierra de Mijas is covered by low height forest with some pine groves and pasture zone with some olive trees. While on the other hand, southeast part of the sierra is slowly being transformed into residential developments and other tourist resorts that climb upon its hills and squeeze between little valleys and streams. All types of social and cultural events outdoors at open-air or under the tents.
